Top 4 Most Valuable Cards in Pokémon 151: What We Know So Far About the Highly-Anticipated Scarlet & Violet Expansion

The Pokémon Scarlet & Violet 151 Japan release has got fans excited like never before. Here’s what we know so far based on the Japanese version.

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is going back to the basics with its latest release, Scarlet & Violet 151. It’s not without new goodies – we get to enjoy new posters, binder collections, Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Bundles, and even new ex cards. But what makes Pokémon 151 so exciting for collectors is that it will feature all the original 151 Pokémon from the original Red & Blue series – including Abra, Kadabra, and Alakazam together for the first time in more than 21 years. Fans will be going back to Kanto to rediscover where it all started for Pokémon.

When will Pokémon Scarlet & Violet  151 be released?

Since its Japanese release in June this year, Pokémon 151 has seen unprecedented buzz among fans and collectors. If you’re in the same boat, don’t worry – you won’t have to wait long for the English version, which is set to launch September 22nd. Pre-orders are available now, so you can get the set immediately upon its release.

How many cards will Pokémon Scarlet & Violet  151 have?

Although the set features 151 of the original Pokémon characters, many of these monsters and characters will be appearing in multiple cards. We can expect at least 165 cards, not including the Secret Rares, of which there are reportedly 45. That brings the total number of cards to 210.

The 4 Most Valuable Cards in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet 151 So Far

Without further ado, here are the Pokémon 151 cards worth the most money according to projected prices:

1. Erika’s Invitation Secret Art Rare

With the graded version of this card expected to sell at no less than $1,500 USD (£1166.4), Erika’s Invitation is already causing buzz as the number one chase card in SV-151.

The Special Illustration Rare, illustrated by Cona Nitanda, features the gym leader in her signature yellow robe tending to her blooms. The illustration is no doubt beautiful, but playability will also play a role in the card’s value. In-game, the card can reveal your opponent’s hand and then force a Basic Pokémon to the Active area.

2. Erika’s Invitation Ultra Rare Full Art

If you’re looking for a different illustration of the same lovable character, the Erika’s Invitation Ultra Rare Full Art variant features the vibrant trainer as depicted by illustrator Saino Masaki. Since it’s more common than the SAR variant, the prices are lower at around $250 – but they’re nonetheless valuable. In fact, many fans have expressed their preference for this illustration over the SAR, but low pull rates make the latter more coveted.

3. Mew Ex Secret Art Rare

The Mew Ex card has sold for more than $1,000 USD when graded at a 10, and it’s no surprise. The Secret Art Rare, illustrated by Natsumi Yoshida, features a unique design that changes when tilted – in different angles, the sun looks  like it’s rising and setting. At the center is Mew soaring above a small village awash in the pink and orange hues of the sun.

4. Charizard ex Special Illustration Rare

Charizard is one of the most valuable characters in TCG history, which means this new Special Illustration Rare is very likely to be a chase card. Designed by Miki Kudo, the SIR is already expected to enter the reseller’s market at over $160, with prices possibility soaring to $850 when graded.

5. Honorable mention: Pikachu – Master Ball Reverse Holo

This super rare reverse foil card features the highly valuable Masterball variant, which is something we haven’t seen before in a Pokémon set. The Pikachu variant is the most highly coveted, with prices ranging from $200 to $1,000 depending on the quality.

Unfortunately, this card will not be included in the English release and can only be pulled from the Japanese variant. We’re expecting its long-term prices to skyrocket because it’s so niche.

There you have it folks! These are some of the most highly priced cards in Pokemon 151 so far. Which one are you most excited for?
